Round 2 Update

As expected, Peter was admitted to the hospital for round 2. He is attached to his pole as the chemo drip continues. The effects of the medication are more apparent this round. When the first round started, Peter hadn’t fully recovered from the surgery and tests that took place only days earlier. Discomfort, fatigue, and nausea could be attributed to any number of trials he endured. But arriving for the second round, Peter brought along all the energy and attitude we’ve all come to know over the first 4 years of his life. Therefore, the power of what is entering his body is more evident.

That isn’t to say he’s not doing well. He’s doing great. He’s just a little more tired and a little more uncomfortable at times. Right now the Twins are playing and he’s cheering for the Twins, unless Big Pappi is at the bat. He likes David Ortiz.

  1. Hi Peter,
I have the Twins on TV, too. But I might have to switch back and forth with ‘Dancing With The Stars’. I’m sure you could care less about people dancing!!! Cheer on the Twins! Rest well this week, eat like a Big Guy, and try to smile! Soon you’ll be able to head back home to Brainerd. Just let that medicine beat up that nasty path thing. I bet sometimes it doesn’t feel so good, huh? Take care Buddy. We are all thinking of you ALL THE TIME!! And saying lots of prayers, too.

  2. Hi my dear sweet boy-

Promise me you’ll hang in there, bud! Stay strong… and keep that positive attitude alive! Even in uncomfortable moments, remember that we are all praying very hard for you and we are all here to help you win this battle. Your team is enormous!! Just squeeze on to those “jiggly things” that I gave you when you are feeling icky and know that “this too shall pass”. When you are running a race, you may come across some obstacles that are tougher than others, but that doesn’t mean that the finish line is impossible to find. Just keep running, Pete… keep fighting. Let that medicine do what it has to do. It takes alot of medicine to wipe out all the nasty dudes in your tummy. The medicine may make you feel ishy sometimes, but just keep using your imagination skills and try to picture the medicine kickin’ some butt… big time! Just a couple more days to go with this round, Pete. Then you can come back home and whoop some more butt in air hockey!
I wish for you sweet dreams and more comfort tomorrow then you experienced today. Our prayers are never ending and our love for you is infinite….
Hugs, kisses and lots of squeezes-
Jenni, Ryan, Emily, Lily & Parker

  5. Peter,
Hey buddy. Just wanted you to know, we in Colorado are still thinking about you and hoping that round two is going well. We come into Minneapolis to play the Wild on Oct. 5th, and I am hoping you are feeling well and can be our guest to come to the game and say hi to some of the players.
One of your dad’s old college teamates, Ken Klee, is on our team and he and Joe Sakic would love to see you there.
In the meantime, keep cheering for your Twins and hope to see you in a few weeks.

  6. Hi Peter,

You have our best wishes in round 2 of your fight against the bad guys. You are such a tough dude and we are so proud of you. Baden, Emily, James and I are fighting on our end with oodles of prayers. You’re going to beat this path thing so keep fighting on yours. Speaking of fighting, Baden wanted to let you know how tough his sister is. She was kind of mad at him the other day for taking a toy from him. I’m sure you never take toys from your sisters! 🙂 Anyway, she pushed him down and started dragging him by the collar. It was hilarious. Can you picture little Emi dragging Baden around by his shirt? Try and I’m sure you’ll be laughing about that one too! Baden says hi and he really, reallly, hopes you feel better soon.

    Love,
    The Bastians

  7. Hang in there Pete-Man! Keep your strength up so you can beat your grandma at hockey again when you get home. When you get board, grab your squirt bottle and squirt your mom and dad a couple of times. Don’t tell them I told you too! See you soon.

    Joe

  10. Hi Peter,
We are so proud of your amazing positive winner attitude. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We pray that God will fill your doctors with wisdom to know exactly how to help you win your battle and we want to fight for you and cheer you on.

We hope God’s words from the Holy Bible book Jeremiah 29:11 will encourage you. “For I (the Lord) know the plans I have for Peter,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper Peter and not to harm Peter, plans to give Peter hope and a future.

  11. Hey Peter,
Our family is glad to hear you have gone into round 2 strong and positive (oh, and way to show your gramma what an awesome hockey player you are!). It takes a positive attitude to get through some of the tough things that come up through life, and this has got to be the toughest thing you and your family has ever gone through. But you have so many great friends, family members, doctors, and Brainerd Hockey fans cheering you on!

It can be hard to understand, but sometimes things just have to get worse before they can get better, but we have faith that you WILL get better. That’s strong medicine they’re putting in you, so hang in there through these tough times, and try to think about how that medicine is helping you. We can’t wait to see you bouncing around the arena again with your dad, so smile and think of happy times to come!

Big hugs and prayers to you and your family, from the Swanson’s
Cary, Lori, Luke (#29), Brooke (#18), and Erica (#2)
