Back to Minneapolis

Ty, Erika and Peter should be in Minneapolis on Monday morning about 10:00 AM. Peter will first be examined at a clinic beside the hospital to verify that he is fit for the second round of chemotherapy. Assuming everything checks out — and judging by Peter’s visible condition everything will check out — he will be readmitted to the hospital. Then the second round of chemotherapy will begin sometime later in the day.

As you can gather from the previous posts, Peter is doing great. He had lost most of his hair over the past week, leaving a couple patches up top. But a vigorous bath last night pretty much wiped those strands out as well. Not that he cares.

Let’s get round two started, Peter. It’s time to keep beating the bad guys.

  1. Peter,

I hear you’ve been doing really well while I took Carl out to Boston. I missed visiting you so I HOPE Carolyn, Mark and I can come visit you after your back from the hospital and feeling stronger.

Sounds like you beat your Grandma Mary in hockey pretty good so maybe you can show me how good you are when your back from the hospital!!!

Take care and God Bless You!

    Love, Pam

  2. I wanted to wish you guys good luck with round 2!!! I am from Littleton, CO and found out about you guys from Dave Cohen, his son Jacob had Neuroblastoma back in 2001. I have spent some time almost every summer in Brainerd with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. My mom grew up there. Her madien name is Kummet. Down here I work at The Children’s Hospital of Denver and and hoping to get switched to the oncology unit soon. I just wanted to send my prayers your way and let you know my whole family will be thinking about you everyday. I am going to e-mail this website to my family up there as well so they can pray for Pete too. We are also big hockey fans… Hope to see Pete in the NHL someday. I know he can do it! Let me know if there is anything any of us can do for you. I am hoping to get up there again soon.
    All my thoughts and prayers,

  8. Hi my sweet friend-
I wanted to get out to your vehicle this morning and give you a head rub and a high five for good luck this week…. but things were kind of hectic at drop-off time! Lots of kids coming at the same time… Parker crying for a bottle… Lily crying for breakfast… I just didn’t get a chance to run out quick – plus, it was raining! So, anyway – here’s wishing you the best and hoping that you take this round like a champ again!
Did you use your Super-Hero shampoo last night to get the rest of your hair off? I imagine you are quite handsome…. I have a feeling all the nurses will want to rub your head!! Maybe you can decorate your head with stickers or tattoos and maybe you can wear cool hats to keep your head warm! I will look for some neat-o hats for you … and I will continue to look for cool tattoos, too!
Today we pray that your initial check-up goes well… {which like your mommy said this weekend & Uncle Matt wrote in the posting, you are doing remarkably well, so I imagine you will check-out just fine!} We will also pray that your body handles this round with Captain Chemo just as wonderfully as you did the first time… and we will pray that you and your mommy and daddy continue to be wrapped in God’s love as He helps you fight this path-thing….
We are always thinking of you, Peter… and we will continue to believe in MIRACLES….
With love from your daycare family-
Jenni, Ryan, Emily-Clare, Lilyanna and Parker John

  9. Hey there Peter! Good luck as you begin round#2 in kickin’ “the paths’, ” butt!!!!! As always, we are praying for you and the rest of your family as well!” Live strong ” little guy, you are such a bright light in many lives !!!!!!
    God be with you,
    Debbi & Rick

  10. Hi Pete
Here we go, round 2. You are so amazing. When I am around you, you make me feel better, I thought it was supposed to be the other way around. You are always so happy, go lucky and taking all of this “path thing” so well.
If your new hair does not come in Blue like you thought would be cool, just let me know, I will get some coloring and make it Warrior Blue, or maybe just some more blue suckers will do the trick.
I hope all goes well today for you so that you can start round 2 of the fighting of the “path thing”.
I will keep praying for you. I wish you lots of luck to, just like the other day when I wished you good luck to beat Grandma Mary in air hockey, and if I remember right, that worked out well for you. (poor Grandma Mary)
Say hi to mom and dad and I will talk to you all in a few days.
    Love and prayers.
    Jill S.

  11. Hi Eigners!

Good luck with the start of Round 2! I’ve been praying for you every day! Keep your spirits up…I know those bad guys will get beat, bad! Keep smiling!

  12. Pete:

Be strong my friend. Just got back from training camp in Pittsburgh. Mario said to say hi and wishes you well. He is aware of your battle and we will keep him posted through his agent, Steve Reich.

Marc-Andre Fleury, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin put on a show in training camp and drew standing ovations from the 2,000 fans on hand to watch the camp. Jordan Staal made a strong showing, earned their respect and showed tremendous upside for his age level. He would be a senior in Minnesota High Schools. Hard to imagine him in an NHL training camp. Sidney is one year removed from high school, Evgeni and Marc-Andre are only two years removed from high school.

This shows the levels that can be reached if young people aspire to be as much as they can be and certainly one of the reasons you will be victorious.

Praying for you and wishing you all well.

  13. Hi Peter –
Sounds like you and Jake had fun the other night. Glad you got a chance to play – he said your sis climbs like a monkey and that you’re one hard guy to beat at air hockey. I’ve never been able to play that game – goes way too fast for me. I’m much better at pitching the ball and pushing pucks with my hands so hockey guys can practice shooting.
When you get home this next time we’ll be sure to send over some more ice cream cups – what was your favorite flavor?? Maybe your mom – dad – nurses or grandma mary can find some. Hugs to you and your mom and dad – Joni

  14. Ty and Erica,
Andy & I are here in Minneapolis if you need ANYTHING. We are a phone call away: 952.473.4712.

We are thinking of you, Peter.

  15. Hi Peter,
I was so happy to hear that you made the trip for round #2 strong and ready to battle “The Path”. You remain in our thoughts and prayers! Keep up the good work, listening to your doctors and mom and dad!! There is NO doubt in my mind that you are going to win this fight with the hepl of your TEAM!
Lots of love to you and good luck little buddy!!
    Lisa & Drew Olson

  16. Hi Peter – Good Luck In Round 2 Buddy- You are on your way to The The Top of The mountain.. I am Going to The Avs Burgandy /Whire Game tonight.. I love The Avs.. Jake say’s hello – Tell Mom & Dad the Prayer will contimue to come from Colorado !!!

    Love
    The Cohen Family

  17. It was great to see your entire family at church on Saturday night! I didn’t want to get too close as Taylor has a bit of a cold and I didn’t want to risk things. Tanner was very excited to see Peter . . . he hasn’t seen him in quite awhile and he keeps asking how he’s doing. We have his picture on our refrigerator so that “we remember to pray for him” as Tanner would say. Keep the faith and Peter – keep fighting and you will beat the bad guys!!!! 🙂

  18. Hey Pete! I found your website over joumauerfanclub.com. As i have tears in my eyes for you and your family, I will be praying that this cancer in you body will get washed away like our sins by our God and Savior. May God hold you and your family in his arm so tightly!
God Bles! Courtney (my best friend’s infant brother died when he was 2 and a half months old so i kinda know how hurt you are) 🙁

  19. Hi Peter and Mom and Dad-
Just wanted to check in tonight – let you know that we prayed real hard today for you… we continue to ask God to keep you safely in His arms and to keep you wrapped tightly in His love and guidance.
Your sisters were a bundle of fun today! Ellie is such a funny lil’ thing! She kept asking me to smell her blankies… then she would say “They need a bath! They stink!” I think she was saying that because last time she was at my house, I did wash her blankie for her! Kate is kind of Miss Destructive…. just like how she was acting like a human Zamboni when you and Emily-Clare were trying to play air hockey!…. she plows right into whatever the kids are doing! She’s a stinker… but we love her anyway!! 🙂
Are you going to watch anything fun on T.V. tonight? I am a DEAL OR NO DEAL fan…. but Ryan would rather watch WIFE SWAP…. (hope that isn’t a sign that he wants to “swap” me!!)
Hmmmm…. sounds like my peaceful computer time is over… Emily and Lily are fighting! Time for mommy to intervene! You have a restful night, my sweet boy! We will say lots more prayers tonight …. may you continue to beat The Path Thing!
Love You Till The Day After Forever-
    Jenni and family

  20. Peter and family, I will say extra prayers for you during round two. I hope all goes well and that all the “bad stuff’ takes a hike. God Bless, Cheryl Bailey

  21. Pete-
Keep fighting little guy! I’m so glad to hear that you are doing well and hope you continue it. And glad to hear you won a couple of hockey games! 🙂 Keep it up buddy. You and you’re family remain in my prayers.

  22. Pete and Fam,
We are thinking about you lots and lots, and still send special guardian angel prayers to you every night. You are a very special little boy and have so many people that care and think about you. You have definately had quite an impact on all these people out here. Lovin the huge poop story, yes it definately is a guy thing, Jake calls me in whenever there is a memorable one (I’m sure he won’t mind me telling you ha ha).

We think about you often, and check this site regularly for updates,
    God bless you!!!

    Trina Volkl

  23. Hi Peter, Ty and Erica,

Welcome back to Minneapolis! It looks like you are on schedule or ahead of schedule for the second round! That is such a good sign! Molly was always ahead of schedule too! Strong kids…I think it is the hockey player in them!!

We will keep you in our prayers this week as the chemo begins again! It sounds like you have adjusted to the home care well. It\’s great you could stay in Brainerd during your time off chemo! Cherish those \”GOOD\” days! They are the eneregy you will use to get through the next chemo.

We are a phone call away and if you ever need anything, please call. Molly would love to visit again if or when Peter is up for it. Take care. Your strength amazes all the onlookers!

Just want you to know we are thinking of all of you during this Round 2.
Peter, you are a fighter and such a “hero” to all of us. Take care of each other. If you need anything, please ask….
    Karen and Bob

  26. Best of Luck with round 2 Peter, sounds like you’re doing great! We live in Detroit, and everyone’s real nervous here about your Twins catching the Tigers, it’s going to be a good race right to the end of the year. (I shouldn’t say this too loud but, GO TWINS!) I grew up in Minnesota.

Take care, and we’ll all be thinking and praying for you.

Rob Grillo (Carol, Brandon & Briana too)
