Treatment Begins

Well tomorrow the first round of chemotherapy begins. We have no idea what to expect. All we know is that Peter’s FIGHT TO WIN begins sometime tomorrow. And that is our attitude We are going to FIGHT TO WIN. Erika and I pray for strength to help our son through this. We are so thankful that when we pray at night, we know that we are not in this alone. Everything we have learned up to this point tells us that we are going to need all the help we can get. So again, “thank you” for everything each of you have done for our family up to this point. We are truly blessed to have the most amazing support system behind us as we move forward. We don’t know what to expect from this disease, but we do know that this disease has never taken on a child so strong who has so many people in his corner.

WE WILL WIN!

Ty, Erika, Peter, Ellie and Kate Eigner

Good luck Peter — we will continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers each day. May God provide you all with his blessings during this time.

  2. Dear Peter, Erika and Ty:

I just wanted to extend my prayers and best wishes to your family as you continue in this journey as a family. My family and I will be praying for you.

I participated in a golf tournament this weekend for Children’s Hospital here in Denver. I had a chance to meet Dave Cohen and his son Jake and was moved beyond words to see Jake in such wonderful and vibrant shape. I am looking forward to seeing photos and videos of Peter in similar circumstances very soon!

Peter, my daughter thinks you are cute! Watch out, she is a “kisser”!

Also friends of The Cohen Family, and For a Childs Sake. I had the opportunity to watch the strength of prayer and support given to little Jake when he was going through the same challenges. Seeing Jake today is a blessing that we will all share with you when Peter has declared his victory, God Bless.

  7. hi peter, i wilsh you the best with your treatment. if you keep fighting, you will succeed. my soccer coach always used to say ” it’s always darkest before the light.” remember that as you go through your chemo.

  8. Peter, where did the name Grandpa Poopster come from? and
Dont you think he needs a haircut?

Erika and Ty – you might be feeling like you wish you could do more, but you are doing the most important part. You are helping Peter deal with every aspect of this disease and making sure he gets all the help and love he needs.

We hope everything went well today. Hang in there. We would love to visit sometime this week.

    Love,

  10. Dear Peter,

Jack said he had fun coming down to visit you the other day. We hope you have been able to put up pictures of Kate and Ellie and Baron on your bulletin board. We didn’t know if we should get the white kitty magnet or the black kitty magnet because we didn’t know which color your cat was! We even called in Steve Clough on the mission, but he said he still hadn’t had a sighting of your kitty, even though he has been feeding him each day. Boy, he is really a good hider!!!

The hockey boys wore their Warrior jerseys just for you.

You know Pete, when I was a little girl, my dad always told me to say three “Hail Mary’s” whenever i couldn’t fall asleep or whenever I got scared or whenever I was sad. You might want to try that trick, if you need it. It really works. I have always had my three boys (Pat, Jack and Tom) try it. We figure that Mary must have a lot of pull-being Jesus’s mom and all.

Know that EVERYONE in Brainerd is thinking about you and praying that you come home quickly. Take lots of sips and lots of bites for your mom and dad.

    Ty and Erika,

We are praying, praying, praying. Let us know if there is anything we can do. Call if you want the boys to take out your dock or any of that mundane stuff. All of our thoughts are with you.

As our day wraps up back here, we are thinking of you as we did when our day started. We hope all went well today for the first treatment and that Peter held up well with it all. Hope you both are holding up as well as can be expected. From the sound of it, you are both pillars! Keep it up – and we’ll all be praying our hearts out!!

  16. Hello Peter and the family,

I am just writing to let you know you all have been in my thoughts and prayers from the moment I heard. Everyone I talk with offers their prayers and support also. This is an awful thing to have to go through, but you are 100% correct when you say you have great support. Peter you are a great little guy with a lot of spunk and you have a big fight starting with today. You can do it.
We are friends of your Auntie G’s and we live in WI. We are doing the Al’s Run/Walk for Children’s hospital of WI again this year and have 50 people on our team- we call it the Zach Attack team, in honor of my son Zachary- who was born with a heart defect. I tried to get our team logo changed to include “PRAY FOR PETER” on it, but the shirts already went to print. So instead we are going to donate all of the money we raise to the Cancer/Hematology center in Children’s hospital in hopes that it can be used to help little boys like you BEAT THE PANTS off of things like Neuroblastoma. Last year we raised about $2500. Our walk is Sept. 16th- and you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Hang in there- and keep giving Auntie G and Uncle Matt things to smile about.

Love- The Solomon’s, Tom, Angela, Evan, Zachary and Avery
