The Trend Continues

The Eigners were released from the hospital on Saturday and relocated to the Ronald McDonald house nearby. Peter continues to improve. He seems almost normal in many ways. However, he’s not really up for physical activity — walking any distance wears him out. He gets tired more quickly and naps. He looks tough, because his white of his right eye has lingering blood from the broken vessel. But even that’s almost gone after looking very dramatic for a few days, but it never caused pain. He still has congestion in his airway that causes coughing and a runny nose.

As Ty said, he’s getting his nutrition through his lines and it lasts 12 hours. Real food is starting to appeal to him. On his request, I made him pancakes the other day. I also made a hot dog the following day, although I think that was more the adults’ idea. The food doesn’t necessarily stay down and he still has some random episodes of throwing up (like in the grocery store on Monday).

The plan was for Peter to see his sisters this week, but last I heard, they both caught bad colds and need to stay apart. I think that may even keep their parents from seeing them. Bummer.

Aside from all the lingering symptoms, Peter’s energy shines through a little more each day.

I’m sure it has been hard and at times not too fun but your spirit indeed sounds to be shining through. We have plenty to be thankful for this Easter season. We are thankful that you friend continue to be such a champion and leader in your battle against the path thing!

As far as the getting sick at the grocery store…..Baden did it about a month or so ago. The poor guy looked like he wanted to cry. Nobody cared though and it was kind of funny to hear the words “clean up on aisle six”. Oh well.

Keep getting better and HAPPY EASTER!

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better and better each day! You are amazing! Guess what….did you know your picture and a 100 day countdown is on the Joe Mauer Fan Club Website!! Wow…I am a little jealous! That’s pretty sweet if you as me! I was lucky and won tickets to the Twin’s Home Opener. It was a great game and I had sooooo much fun!! Maybe sometime we can go to a game together…that would be really cool! Woody and Dino are in St. Louis watching Carl play in the Frozen Fore and I am watching Luke while they are gone. There is a muskrat trapped in the Grillo’s yard and Luke thinks he is so tough sneaking up on it and barking at it….silly dog!! Take Care buddy and I hope to see you soon!

  15. Happy Good Friday, Eigners!
Hey, Peter … I just checked out the Joe Mauer Fan Club website, too. You are one lucky duck! Who would have thought that someday a person could visit a MN Twins web page and get a link to YOUR web page! Definitely cool!
Do you remember the egg hunt that we had at daycare last Easter?? It was BEAUTIFUL…. WARM…. all the kids had shorts and sandals on! Well, needless to say, it’s not shorts and sandals this years, but instead, it’s snowpants and boots! Pretty ridiculous! We just got done having an “indoor egg hunt”. It’s not as fun as being outside, but the kids seemed to have fun. Hopefully next year it will be a nicer day… and more importantly, hopefully you’ll back to show us your egg hunting skills! 🙂
I hope you have a SUPER TERRIRFIC LOVEBALE HUGGABLE SNUGGLEABLE Easter!!!! I bet Mr. Easter Bunny will be hopping over to the Ronald McDonald House with extra special treats for you!!
Easter hugs and kisses from our family to yours~
