Preparing for Launch!

Well Peter is having another very good day. He had a very good visit with his Doctors and they told us that he will probably be able to get out of the hospital this Saturday or Sunday. We are so thrilled that he continues to improve! He got back on the Bingo circuit today – making up for lost time, he decided to call in 5 times during the hour!!! He also left his room for the first time in about 20 days or so. He took a whopping 625 steps (dad keeps track of that kind of thing)! At this very moment he is eating a feezy pop and enjoying it. They are continuing to wean him off of the pain meds and will make sure he can take his antibiotics orally. He will have another chest CT tomorrow to confirm the pneumonia is under control or gone. We will hook him up to TPN 12 hours/day (IV nutrition) when we relocate to the Ronald MacDonald House.
Peter is surely gaining strength from all of your thoughts and prayers, and Erika and I can’t thank you enough. With the amount of time we spend in the room with Peter we have the opportunity to keep tabs on many other cancer patients that we have met during Peter’s journey, please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Have a great night.

It is truely awesome the way you are getting better every day! We hope you get to leave the hospital for the Ronald McDonald house soon. I saw your dad yesterday and he looks great, and he said you look even better! I’m sure you’ll be watching Carl next weekend as the Frozen Four continues, too bad for the Gophers, maybe next year. Your Mom and Dad are sure special people, and they have an awesome little guy like you to keep them in line. Keep smiling, we are thinking of you every day and can’t wait till you get to come back home to Brainerd/Nisswa!

  6. Way to go Peter! We are so glad to hear you are doing better! What exciting news that you may get to leave the hospital this weekend! We are so proud of you for how brave you have been, and how well you are doing! I’m sure it felt good to take a few steps and get out of that bed, I’m still working on the crawling thing and haven’t quite figured it out yet. Well just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you, and will continue to pray for everyday to get easier for you.

  7. Dear Pete,

Every day completed is a day further down the road to recovery! When we went to Mexico over break, there was this little tiny church in the town of Playa del Carmen. I went in there every day and said a prayer for you to get better. Just think: Prayers all the way from Mexico!!!

I hear the Ronald McDonald House is pretty cool. Jack’s dad, Jim, went to medical school down at the University where you are staying, and we use to drive by or walk by The Ronald McDonald House all the time. Let me know what you think. I have never been inside of it, but it looks pretty special from the outside.

Glad you’re eating freezies and feeling better. We’re thinking of you all the time.

    Continued strength,

Jim, Nancy, Pat, Jack and Tom Freeman

  8. Wow….what GREAT news!! It’s good to hear you are getting up and around…soon you’ll be out jogging wih mom and dad! I remember your mom and Baron jogging past me when I was on my early morning walks…that seems so long ago. Peter, everyone is so proud of you…you have been an amazing patient!

  10. Peter, We are excited about your news on how well your doing. Thank you for signing my guestbook. I am sure the Ronald McDonald House you will check into will be as fun as the RMH in Hawaii. Also glad to see you got to get out of your room. Each day you will get stronger and stronger.

  13. Dear Peter,

What an incredible week you’ve had! We do believe in miracles! We are so happy to hear that you are feeling so much better. And just in time for the start of the Twins season. Won’t it be exciting to have Mauer, Morneau and the boys back in town? The Metrodome is pretty close to the Ronald McDonald house so hopefully you can get to some games.

Please remind your Mom and Dad that we’re here if they need ANYTHING.

Our prayers and positive thoughts are constantly coming your way!

Perry, Julie, Molly, Blake, JP and Casey

  14. That is super news! Keep up the great attitude and work. Maybe when you are all better you can do a bingo or game show and beam it to the hospital, because you are a funny, great kid who would know just how to entertain kids in the hospital. Enjoy all the freezy pops you can, and Dairy Queen season is just around the corner!
We are very excited that you can leave the hospital soon.

  15. It’s raining outside. 🙁 The skies are grey. 🙁 I can’t see any sunshine. 🙁 But, who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PETER IS GETTING RELEASED from the HOSPITAL…. 🙂 and that makes all the rain & all the grey skies and lack of sunshine irrelevant! Peter, you have turned a yucky grey Friday into a sunshiney, perfectly wonderful, super terrific, happy, happy HAPPY day! My heart is smiling…. and my eyes have a teeny tiny bit of cry in them…. but it’s all happy cry! You are BEYOND amazing. I seriously doubt there is a word out there that actually describes you. You are more than brave, you are more than courageous, you are far more than wonderul, much more than awesome, way better than amazing…. you are simply indescribable. Peter – from the bottom of my heart to the tips of my pink polished toes, I love you! I believe in you….. and I am incredibly thrilled to start my day off with such PHENOMENAL news! Back your bags…. goodbye hospital, hello Ronald MacDonald House! Continue to eat those freezies… they always make owies feel better… (or atleast that’s what Emily & Lily have convinced me of!!) You are entitled to as many freezies as you want…. eat up, drink up, keep smiling, laughing, and keep fighting. As far as me, I promise to keep praying. There’s a spot waiting for your return right here at Little Angels Daycare. I CAN’T WAIT for the day you march through my door again, sweet Peter!
I am soooooooooooooo proud of you!! You handled the toughest days like a true hero – a true champion…. all I can say is WOW.
With LOTS and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of love & prayers~
    Jenni and family 🙂

P.S. Ty & Erika~ I can only imagine the joy you feel in your hearts right now. I feel it – and he’s not even my kid! I can seriously only imagine! Each day is a step towards the end… and the steps appear to be getting easier and easier! You have got to be the proudest parents in the world…… and I can’t help but believe that Peter is the proudest little boy in the world…. 🙂

We got your message that you got out of the hospital on Saturday. How is the new place? We are so proud of you Peter, for your strength and positive attitude you have shown through this, we know you still have a while untill you get to come home, but you will be there before you know it. Stay strong buddy!!

  25. What great news! You are obviously doing everything right fighting this path thing. Keep doing it! I ran by the Ronald McDonald house a couple weeks ago and wondered if you were headed there. It looks very cool! We think of you everyday and you inspire us with your strength. I’m sure you also inspire others you have met that are going through the same thing you are. That’s a very positive thing you can take with you from this experience.
