Plowing Through Round 6

Peter started round 6 late on Monday and has been taking it in stride all week. He’s peppy and having a good time, actually, in part because they were holding Camp Get-a-Well-a at the hospital. The “camp” meant that the patients got t-shirts and extra entertainment, such as a magician.

Today he’s playing bingo through the closed-circuit game show — the one that he previously co-hosted until he had to go wee and left the set.

All is well. The Eigner’s should be leaving the hospital tomorrow morning (Friday) to head home, where Peter will feel the effects of chemo, battle through, and recover for the start of his next treatments.

  1. Hi Peter,

I’m the guy who tapes a lot of your Dad’s games. I just wanted to stop by and wish you well. You are an inspiration to many and have touched a lot of hearts … even those you have never met.

Every hockey game I videotape, I include a pregame music video featuring the team I cover and the atmosphere of that arena before the game starts. Well, I decided to include you and your Dad in the pregame video when the Warriors played against the Little Falls Flyers. The song I used is one of my favorites and the video is somewhat of a tribute to you, Peter.

My family thinks about you alot and we are hoping and praying for your complete recovery.

  3. Big Pete-

Sounds like you are doing great! So glad you are feeling strong. Sam is having his fifth birthday party tomorrow, and he wanted you to come. But he knows you are busy getting well and getting even stronger. He says he will just wait and fish with you this summer. ANd play hockey and do a little super heroes too.

Keep battling Peter. You have exemplified for us all how to be strong in the face of battle. You are an inspiration and so wise already for being four years old.

We are awaiting the go-ahead to visit. The kids are excited to play with you sometime soon. Until then, just keep getting better!

    Many blessings,

Jake, Becky, Henry, Emma, Sam and Zach

  4. Hi Peter, we’re so glad to hear you are feeling well and this round is going smoothly. The hospital you are at sure does a nice job of setting up some fun things for all of the children to help the time go by faster. And I hear that your doctors and nurses are very kind and adore you! But I’m sure you are still looking forward to being home.

Have you heard about our Warrior hockey team big wins this week? They played hard, and showed a lot of teamwork this week, and it paid off in both games with strong wins. You will be a good player too Pete, because you are strong and determined.

Well, be strong through the after effects of that medicine, because it is making you better!. We’re thinking of you often, and you are in our prayers daily! Keep fighting tough!

Cary and Lori Swanson, Luke (#4), Brooke, and Erica

  6. Peter~
Yah… well, why am I not surprised that you are “Plowing Through Round 6” ????? 🙂 I think we’d be MORE surprised if we heard that you were struggling!! Of course you are handling it all like a champ! That’s the only way Peter Eigner has ever handled anything, isn’t it!?? With true guts and determination…. with fearless energy and bounds of faith?!?! You are truly a hero, Mr. Eigner…. we are all so unbelievably proud of you and honored to be a part of your winning team! Keep up the tremendous fight, my friend!! We hope that Camp Get-A-Well-A has helped not only you, but also all the other courageous children who find comfort and healing at your hospital to get “well”. Rest well as you recover from this final round of “normal” chemo!!! Snuggle and giggle lots, smile even more…. and love like you have never been loved before. We think of you so very often and can’t wait to see you (and Ellie-Belly & Katesie-Poo, too) soon! If your health allows, we’d gladly stop over for a visit sometime! 🙂
With continued prayers and never-ending love~

  10. Dear Peter and family,

We are in Naples, but continue to read your web site. Thank you, Uncle Matt! This is a great thing you do for Peter!

Just know that prayers and good wishes are coming your way from Florida and many parts of our country. You are a toughie, Pete, and a hockey player! That kind of goes with the territory. Good luck with the chemo and God Bless You.

    Lots of love,

    The Nobles

P.S. Maybe someday soon you can come down to Florida and play in the ocean and look for neat sea shells. Keep that thought in mind. We would love to see you!

  11. Hello Peter –

It was really great to meet you and your family last week. You are a great kid and after reading your story I am also realizing what a fighter and inspiration you are. Noah really enjoyed playing with you while you were roommates. I also enjoyed your company. Noah, along with the rest of our family, continues to keep you in our prayers. I know Noah would like to play with you again. Maybe someday when we get up to Brainerd we can give you a call and see how you are doing. Take care!

  15. Dear Peter and family,
I just learned of your family and challenges from Jake Cohen’s Caringbridge site. I was Jake’s Wish Grantor from Make a Wish. I had a lot of fun meetin Dave, Mary, Rebekah, Sara, and of course, Jake. I helped get their wish to go to Disney World started. I also volunteered at the For a Child’s Sake golf tournament. There are so many people that hope to get RID of cancer and desire to support those who’s lives are affected by it.

I lived in Colorado when I was Jake’s Wish Grantor – but now I live in St. Paul, MN. Wouldn’t it be great if I could assist in a wish for you too!

Keep fighting the battle, you’ve got huge crowds cheering you on and praying so hard for good health and a lifetime filled with memorable moments. Bless you all.

I’ll leave you with the song that I love to sing to my boys (3 & 1 1/2)…
You are my sunshine, my little sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you.
And I love you more everyday.

    Hugs to each of you!
    Jennifer
