Doing Well at Home

Sorry for the brief hiatus; I was in NYC for a few days. But I’m back and just spoke with Erika. Peter has been doing great at home with hardly a side effect from round three. However, his counts are probably about to bottom out and he does seem a little worn out today. The best news is that he’s been healthy and able to stay at home. Hopefully they will be away from the hospital for the entire two weeks.

Erika also learned about a change in the upcoming schedule — or maybe we just didn’t understand the schedule exactly. The big difference is that there are actually seven rounds of chemo, instead of six. The schedule that I have posted will be updated to reflect this, but expect another month to be added on when I get all the details.

So no news is good news these days, but I’ll keep sprinkling updates during the recovery period.

  1. Hey Peter – I put a little something in the mail for you today – watch for a BIG orange envelope. (make sure Mommy or Daddy help you open the flaps!!). You’ll be the best joke teller around! You’ll have to make sure you take it with you when you go back to the hospital. Rest up when you feel tired – your body is working hard to help you fight the bad guys – it’s no wonder you feel tired sometimes!!! Hope you get to stay home the whole time before you have to go back for your next medicine. Thinking of you!!

What a wonderful way to start the day….A visit from the Eigners 🙂
The Tight Family bond you have is so powerful.
May God continue to bless your family with good news and strength throughout this journey.
    Stay Strong!!

  3. Uncle Matt – welcome back, we all msised you! I think everyone looks forward to your updates…you do such a nice job, and it’s a great way for us all to keep in touch with Peter’s progress, without bothering Ty and Erika when they have so much on their mind. Thank you!

Ty – it was great to see you at the rink today, we all hope you are doing well, and that your being there is a sign that things at home are going smoothly. It sounds like they are, and we are very thankful. The boys like to see you there too.

Peter – I finally got my wrist band today and I think Luke is right – it’s very cool! We all think of you often, and are so glad to hear you are feeling well. Being tired right now is to be expected, so get lots of rest so your body can build its strength back (and you know, you’ll need a little extra for those Hulk muscles on Halloween!)

    Take care all of you,
    God Bless,

  4. Hey Pete,

I drove with Roby to Lansing, MI for a game between U-18 USA and Michigan State University and I told him how excited Claire and I were to see you @ the Brainerd Civic Center. We talked with a number of scouts and they all asked how Peter was doing. Roby said, “The good news is that Peter seems to be beating this thing.” One scout spoke up and mentioned how his nephew went through the same battle you are going through and that he won over this dreaded disease. We were quick to tell him about your competitive level and your “no fear” approach to your battle.

Thinking of you every single day, Pete. Just want you to know how special you are.

The hockey world is a crazy world but a good and small world, Pete. Just think; I’m getting the opportunity to travel with a San Jose Shark scout Wed, Thu, Fri and Sat. I even have the luxury of having him drive me around. How special is that? Espcecially when it’s my son.

  5. Dear Peter –

Sounds like once again, Peter continues to amaze us! You are pretty incredible, young man! When you stopped over for a short visit on Sunday, we all commented after you left about how wonderful you look! Sure don’t look like a “cancer patient” to me!!! You still maintain your vibrant smile (or atleast I assume it was hidden there underneath that spiffy Mickey Mouse mask you were wearing!!), you still have that zest for life obvious in your eyes and you even still have some incredibly awesome hulk muscles! Aside from the fact that you are missing your hair, (which I think looks absolutely adorable!!), you look pretty darn healthy to us! We are very happy to read that you are doing so well at home. It’s OK that you are tired… it just means that your medicine is doing it’s job. Whenever your body has to do something that it isn’t “used to”, it gets sleepy and worn out! Remember when baby Kate was in mommy’s belly and when baby Parker was in my belly? … our bodies got tired, too, because just like your body is working hard to fight off the path thing, our bodies were working hard to grow babies. We will pray that you continue to do as well as you are and that you get to remain at home for the duration of the time between round 3 and 4. Hang in there, buddy…. you are doing exactly what you should be doing, now it’s time for the medicine to do what it’s supposed to be doing. You’re no fear attitude is certainly envied!
We love you and think of you every single moment!!
With love, happy thoughts and oodles of prayers –

  6. Good Morning Peter,
I have been catching up on the posts and am so happy to hear that things are going well. It sounds like round 3 was a success and you are feeling good! That is amazing news. I saw you at the rink this past weekend, but by the time I made my way upstairs you and your dad were gone. You keep up the great attitude and things are bound to continue in the right direction! Take care, get strong and have a great time Halloween night! (The Hulk is one of my favorites)
I hope to see your smiling face again soon at the arena!

Take care…….thoughts and prayers continue to come your way daily!

  7. Welcome back Uncle Matt,
We missed you and the Peter updates.
Hey Pete, way to go champ. You are doing so great and we know those “bad guys” are on the run. Keep on fighting them Peter. You are a special guy.
    Love
    Uncle Ed and Aunt roz

  8. Hey Peter: Glad to hear that you are doing so well. Be sure and get lots of rest when you feel tired, and that will help you to feel better.
Sounds like you have been able to do some fun stuff, like going to the rink with your Dad and seeing all you friends there. Bet that was fun for you and all the guys were probably soooo glad to see you too.
You keep up the good work. We think of you all everyday and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Nick has a hockey tournament in Chicago this weekend, pretty tough competition there so hope they do well. He is wearing your wrist band for good luck and to think of you as he plays.
Say hi to your mom and dad and Ellie and Kate too.!!

  9. Pete it was good to see you the other day at the rink. You better keep stopping by just to make sure everyone is working hard. Its hard to believe that the season is already here! I hope that Colorado is doing well, you said you like watching them. Keep on battling bud!

  10. Ty, Erika and Peter,
We do believe in miracles! We are thinking about you everyday and putting in our prayers. We do know God is listening, as your recent tests show there are good things happening in Pete’s body.
Peter, you will be a great Hulk, having taken on more challenges than the real one! The kids want you to know what they are: Henry is a goalie (finally he gets to be one!) Emma is a cowgirl, Sam is you get one guess: a power ranger (his third year) and Zach has already succumbed to peer pressure and decided to be the red power ranger.
Henry has been asking to visit Pete when he is back in town. Let us know if that could be arranged!
We think of you everyday! God Bless! Jake & Becky & The Kids

  11. Hi Peter! It was good to see you at church today! I hope to see you at the hockey rink soon. I am still in Ice Mites and will be at the rink with my dad alot!
    Tanner

  12. Peter,

Glad to hear you are still fighting hard against the bad guys. The Hulk will be a cool costume for Halloween too!

My dad just set up our halloween display so you will have to have your dad or mom come by to pick up a goody for you. I was just down in Arizona, and I saw my Aunt Jean. She got your list of beads you need. She will be sending them out soon. She also said it was a really cute picture you sent! I finally to get back on the ice on tuesday and I cannot wait! Take care and stay strong!
