Round 3 and More Tests

This morning Peter had another bone marrow biopsy. It required him to be asleep as they extracted some more marrow from his hip. That procedure went well and the results will be back within the next day.

Round three of chemo is schedule to begin tonight, but there was concern about his blood platelet counts. They were low over the weekend. However, they were tested again today and were remarkably high. They are testing them again to make sure the results were accurate. If the high counts are confirmed, round three will be underway shortly. One of the additional medications within the round 3 regiment is expected to cause more discomfort for Pete. His tummy might be a little more upset. But if that’s what’s necessary to defeat these bad guys, Peter is up to it.

Also, this is a big week of testing. Originally, we didn’t think we’d know much about how the treatment is working for another month or so, but we should know a lot more this week. Along with the marrow biopsy, he will have new scans of his abdomen and chest that will reveal the current state of the tumor and lymph node infections. Needless to say, it’s a nervous and exciting time.

I posted some more pictures from the past week or so in the Photos section. Enjoy.

  7. Hello Peter, Ty and Erika-
Like everyone else, I too, can’t help but check your site once, twice, three or more times a day! Your Uncle Matt must be one heck of a special guy … he is certainly doing a super-duper job at keeping us all updated. It’s so nice to be able to read all your good news… you are such a fighter, Peter! We will pray today that round three of Captain Chemo vs. The Path Thing falls in your favor again. We will also pray that the results of your marrow test come out in your favor… and wouldn’t it be wonderful to have your scans show that your cancer is shrinking and shrinking and shrinking!!!! We will pray really really hard for you, OK?!! I hope your tummy doesn’t bother you too much. I know you are a trooper though, and we all know that you have the wisdom and the strength needed to realize that a little bit of uncomfortable feelings in your belly are worth it as long as it means that the medicine is doing it’s job. Everything will be alright… I am sure the doctors can give you something to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Just hang in there and keep that smile alive!
We love you and miss you very very very much!
Your sisters are here today! We sure are lucky to have them over to play once and a while. They say hello… and send you their hugs and kisses, too!
    Love and Prayers-
    Jenni and family 🙂

P.S. Peter — did you know that it might S-N-O-W tomorrow? Are you ready for snow? I’m not…. 🙁

  8. Ty, Erika and Peter,
We’re thinking of you often, and will pray a little extra this week for good news through all the tests. And to keep Peter comfortable through the stronger meds.

Luke came home last night with one of Peter’s wrist bands that he bought at a school sport event, and is pretty proud of it (I made the mistake of calling it a bracelet….I guess guys don’t wear bracelets, they wear WRIST bands!). Regardless, I gave him a little bit of a hard time because he didn’t buy me one. So his new job is to get to the next sporting event and buy his mother one!

It’s awesome to see so much support spreading every day throughout the community, Peter’s story has touched so many people. And by what I’ve heard and read so far, Peter’s fans spread well across the country. It’s sure deserved, he’s such a trooper!

Thanks Uncle Matt for the great updates. It must take a lot of strength to be so close to everything, gather and interpret all the details, and always remain so positive and factual. We all appreciate it!

    In our prayers,
Lori, Cary, Luke, Brooke and Erica

  9. Hi Pete, Ty and Erika,

Hey Peter – your jersey is sooo cool!!! Your the best looking 4 year old I have ever seen. I know this week will be alittle tough on you but everyone in your corner will be praying really hard this week that all the tests are good and that your tummy dosen’t hurt too much. All you have to do is rest, eat, drink and keep smiling. You have done an amazing job so far. You are not only the best looking 4 year old I know, but you are also one of the strongest (I think your stronger than alot of men I know.) I will continue to check your site everyday (thank you Uncle Matt!!) and I’m looking forward to hearing that you have kicked this path things butt in round 3 also. I’m waiting for Sue P. to send me some of your wrist bands. Some of my son’s hockey friends have been asking if they can get one. Stay strong Peter!!!

P.S. Ty and Ericka you are also in ours prayers to stay strong. You two have an amazing family and it is because of the fine people that your both are. Your have done such a wonderful job as parents. Keep the Faith!!

    God Bless you,
    Nancy Bushey
