Change In The Procedure

Well what do you know, things didn’t go exactly as planned yesterday. After waiting around in the hospital for a couple hours, the procedure finally started. When the procedure concluded, Peter did not receive a stent in his left kidney. It turns out he didn’t need it, because there wasn’t a blockage. Dye was injected into his system and apparently showed a clear passage. I suppose that sounds good, but the fact remains that his kidneys are damaged and not behaving properly. I wish I could provide more clarity about his kidney status, but I really can’t. Peter will be referred to a local kidney specialist for further evaluation when he’s back at home.

The day was long at the hospital and, although Peter did get into costume and got out of the hospital, he wasn’t up for trick-or-treating in the evening.

I don’t think I mentioned it before, but Peter’s blood pressure was high when he arrived at the hospital earlier this week. Today they had an appointment at the clinic and his blood pressure was still high. The reason is not known.

In total, I think yesterday and today have been frustrating due to long waits, some misinformation, and a lack of resolution or a sense of progress. But he’s through another procedure without complication. Even though the Eigner’s can’t check off a medical milestone on the trip, Peter is still moving forward. He’s still fighting on down the winding road to full health.

We think of you daily and pray for you nightly. God’s blessings to you each and every minute of your journey. It has been so good to see you back at Jenni’s from time to time and the smile on your face when you talk about going to school is a fantastic sight to see. 4. When, every so often, there isn’t a post for a couple of days, I breathe a sigh of relief, but then we get news like this!! Maybe this is all just part of the recovery process. When you’ve been really sick, it takes time to heal completely. How I wish Peter could continue to get better, go to school and not have to see doctors constantly. You all see to be so strong – after so long of this – I pray you can continue and see good results! Hi to grandma and grandpa H. Mary

  5. We continue to keep you in our prayers. Sending lots of warm Hawaiian Sunshine to brighten your days.

  6. Hey guys –

I have been reading with tears all that you have encountered since we last saw eachother. I was praying for such better news than seeing all that your going through. I miss you and 5B terribly as I now work in Maple Grove at a Specialty Peds Clinic – which Dr. Neglia may join in the next year. But, Peter is on my heart and in my prayers as I pray for all you families. What a trying time. He is such a delightful kid! Your family support and your whole network of love was so humbling to watch in action. I want you to know that I am still on your side and praying this will all be a distant memory soon —

  7. Well the road is certainly paved with lots of interesting sidetrips isn’t it? We won’t let that stop us. Peter looks great. Those pics of the painted faces are great too! Did you manage to get Jerry Seinfeld to donate to the cause? He has plenty of money and wouldn’t miss it.
We send our love and prayers – miss you guys.
    Love, Bonnie the stickmaker

  13. Awww man. How frustrating for all of you. I hope you all can rest, find some relaxation and take comfort in all the support and love to give you strength and nourishment for the next step.

  14. Oh Peter and Erika and Ty….

I just cannot believe all the unexpected issues you have had to deal with! Really I admire you all so much for your incredible stamina through one thing after another. I pray that the kidney function resolves and the blood pressure concerns as well. May you have an enjoyable Thanksgiving, and get a little rest while you are at it. Any chance a Make-a-wish trip (after a nice long rest at home of course) is in the works for the extremely deserving Eigner Family???????

Erik will be back at the U for biopsy and scans next week, and hoping for good news. The chemo seems to be doing the trick…his pain is gone.

Peter, you are such a star!!!!!

    Praying always!!!!!!
