Fun Weekend in NY

The Eigner clan had a fun-filled weekend in New York. The Chelsea Morrison Foundation sponsored “A Day in the Country” on Saturday and the neuroblastoma kids and families took full advantage. They journeyed into upstate New York and went to an apple orchard where they picked apples, took a hay ride, and picked pumpkins and raspberries. Then they went to the oldest restaurant in the country(?) for dinner. The kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

On Sunday the plan was to take a boat to a restaurant where the NYC firefighters were holding a chili contest with live music and fun for the kids. I haven’t heard about that yet, but it must have been fun.

I believe the 3F8 antibody treatment is starting today.

I got hold of this nice picture that Peter’s Grandma Mary took when we met Peter and family at the airport after returning from the ARDS episode. Looking back just a month ago, it is clear that Peter was looking a little sunken, but he’s up and out of that stroller now.

Welcome Home Peter

  1. LOVE that picture!!! 🙂
Yes… he is definitely up and out of that stroller now! I’ve seen him hit a few homers! He’s acting like a 5 year old boy should… full of steam and energy and love and spunk! Certainly keep up your fight, Peter…. but, know that we already believe you are a winner!
I am sooooo happy that you had such an awesome weekend! Maybe being a NewYorker isn’t so bad afterall?? All the fun activities you managed to attend sure sound like a BLAST!
I watched Extreme Makeover – Home Edition last night…. the “star” of the show was a little 8 year old girl named Boey. She is fighting a form of pediatric cancer just like you. She has lost her hair, gone through chemo and radiation…. and has the same will to fight and win that you do. I had goosebumps and tears throughout the show — and I couldn’t stop thinking of you!
Here’s to a safe flight home for daddy, Ellie & Kate…. and to a smooth week for Peter & mommy!
With lots of love and many, many prayers~
