He Reached HAMA

Peter reached HAMA after one round of antibody treatments. This means that his body was strong enough to develop its own antibodies to the foreign antibodies. So subsequent rounds 3f8 antibody treatments would not be effective. Ideally they can administer four rounds of antibody before the patient reaches HAMA, but enough time had elapsed between Peter’s last round of chemo and the beginning of the antibody treatment to allow Peter’s immune system to regain strength and reach HAMA quickly.

So that’s the end of antibody treatments for now, but things can change quickly, as you know from following this journey.

The third surgery is right around the bend and the future plans are dependent on the results. Will the mass showing on the scans simply be scar tissue, as assumed? We certainly hope so. Will the surgery find neuroblastoma? We certainly hope not. That result would lead to further chemotherapy in NYC.

The fight and the journey continues. Tomorrow night is the relay for life in Brainerd and I’m certain we’ll have a good time. I picked up the Peter’s People t-shirts this morning. We’ll probably have extras after the event that I’ll put up for sale to anyone interested. They are white shirts with the following designs.

Crest on the front:

Peter's People Logo

Design on the back:

YES!

  1. Matt:

The T-shirt design is wonderful! I check Peter’s Page daily and continue to pray for him and his wonderful family. What an inspiration! My sisters, Amy & Sara in Minnesota first told me of Peter’s diagnosis.
I would love to purchase a t-shirt and share my support in the State of Florida. Peter has many, many fans all around the world supporting him and his family.
    Stay strong,
    Juli

  5. Peter and family,

We’ll be thinking of you tonight at the Relay for Life event. We won’t be making a trip up north this weekend….but maybe again very soon – and you and Jack can take a little batting practice against Jack’s dad!! We’d love to purchase 3 of the t-shirts if there are enough to go around.

Good luck to you as you head back to NYC. We’ll be thinking about you!!

    Love,
    Kristi, Bob and Jack Brandt

  6. Hey buddy…. we miss you here today at daycare! Kate is with us and is her usual fiesty little self!! 🙂 You must be helping mom and Gramma Mary get ready for the big event tonight! Ryan, the kids and I are planning on stopping by for atleast a while…. your mommy said that even us “un-registered” supporters are welcome to attend… it would be neat to see you and Mr. Lyscio do your “survivor lap”. The event is a wonderful way to honor cancer survivors & those who have died from cancer… from my previous years attending in the past, I remember it being quite emotional… and ALOT OF FUN!!! So… depending on what time Ryan gets home from work — maybe we’ll buzz over for a minute! There are so many of your family members that we hear about, but have yet to meet — it would be great to meet them all! Just in case we don’t make it out tonight – we wish you the best of luck and we hope you have a BLAST! (Ty & Erika – sounds like you will have quite the houseful this weekend! If there is anything I can do – let me know! … and Peter, have fun with your water balloon fight!)

Bummer about HAMA… but I guess we just have to believe that everything happens for a reason – the reason may be undefined right now, but everything will fall into place – we, too, will pray that scar tissue is the only thing residing where the path thing used to claim occupancy…. and once your surgery is over – everything else will happen as it’s meant to! 🙂

YES…. your tshirts are AWESOME! Will there be any extras available tonight?? I bet Emily & Lily would LOVE one!!
With lots of love and oodles of prayers for a fun time tonight~
Jen, Ryan, Emily, Lily & Parker

  9. We would be honored to purchase a couple of t-shirts. Our love and prayers always.

  10. Dear Peter,

We are praying like crazy this is the easiest surgery yet, and the pathology is what we want to hear–scar only, NO live NB!!!!

HAMA is complicated…let’s hope you don’t ever need chemo again.

You are such a wonderful boy, with such a nice family!!!!!! Praying always!!!!

PS Erik goes back to U of MN this week…scans and biopsy this Tues…results on Thurs…also praying for good news…that somehow by some miracle the NB is gone forever!!!!

  11. Friday was a beautiful night… perfect weather, huge crowd and a beautiful reason for being there! Seeing Peter ride high atop Mr. Lyscio’s shoulders gave me the shivers…. it’s like he was “raising you up” to God’s healing hands! I am so glad we made it to the event… the Relay for Life has never meant so much to me as it did this year! We continue to hope and pray for a cure….
Hey Peter – Emily & Lily LOVE the tshirts… they had to wear them right away today!
    Love~
    Jenni & family

  12. Peter – I love the t-shirts! I hope that you have some extras! Stay tough little buddy! We are praying hard that they only find scar tissue in there, and no more of that nasty tumor.
    Keep up the fight!!

    Jill
