Great Friday

The marrow biopsy came back today and it was clear — no evidence of the path thing in the big guy’s marrow. Again, the doctor mentioned that he wouldn’t be surprised to find cancer traces in the marrow, so Ty and Erika were braced, making the news that much sweeter. If the test would have come back positive — with cancer — the next step would probably have been another round of chemo on Peter’s already depleted system. It’s an exciting day, to say the least.

The next trip to NYC is scheduled for July 2nd through the 9th. Peter will begin the first round of the antibody treatment on this trip. Spending the 4th of July in the big city instead of floating under the sun on the Minnesota lakes is not ideal, but Peter will be getting the best treatment to increase his odds and that is worth everything.

The first trip went well. Thanks to Uncle Troy and Aunt Macer’s friend, Ralph, for letting the group stay in his home in SoHo. Peter was able to check out the zoo in central park and the world’s largest toy store. He said the plane ride was good and his ears just barely popped.

Enjoy your time at home, buddy. You’re doing great.

  1. Hey Peter – You never cease to amaze!!!!! It’s great to hear you received the best news possible!!!!! I’ve also been to the zoo in Central Park but I wanted to go to the largest toy store. Did you get to buy something or was it a look only day??? You and your family enjoy the upcoming week – if you catch any fish maybe let Jacob know how to do it. He fishes and fishes and I’m still waiting to eat.
    Hugs and prayers to all.

  2. Hi Peter,
New York is quite a BIG place isn’t it. Our son Eric lives there but he is in Europe now…..otherwise I’m sure he’d be visiting you. Was that an exciting plane ride? You will have so many new adventures to share with everyone. You are a champ Pete………keep on fighting.
    Love,
    Uncle Ed and Aunt roz

  3. Amen for more answered prayers! I witnessed first hand the excitement and relief in your mommy’s eyes and smiles today when she told me face-to-face about your results! Chills ran through my body and a tiny tear was hiding out in the very corner of my eye as she shared with me the TOTALLY AWESOME news! Peter – you are such an amazing young boy. I just sit here and shake my head in total amazement & awe everytime I read (and hear first hand!!!!) what a great fight you are putting on!
After reading Matt’s posts yesterday (Thursday) and then hearing first hand from your mommy that the doctors “wouldn’t be surprised to find more disease hidden deep within your marrow”….. I felt myself thinking, “God… NO! This isn’t fair!! After all this kid has been through and has to continue to go through, how could you possibly do this to him?? To his family??? There CAN’T be more cancer in his frail little body! No……” It just didn’t seem fair. Then I got to thinking and I had to remind myself that this was Peter Eigner we were talking about… and even IF there HAD been cancer remaining in the marrow, he would handle it like a champ and everything would turn out fine…” Sooooo….. needless to say, when mommy shared with me this sweet news today – I looked up to God and I whispered a quiet “thank you” to Him. This truly couldn’t have been a better day!
Enjoy your time at home…. eat, fish and sleep as much as you can. Oh, and play ball, too! We certainly can’t forget about those upcoming baseball games! 🙂 Enjoy NYC, too! I was there once after I graduated from high school (geez…. that was like 13 years ago already… man, Pete – I am getting old!!!!). It was GREAT fun! I understand that this antibody treatment might be rough…. but you be sure to sight see and make the best out of this situation as you can!
Spending the 4th of July holiday healing your body is much more important than any day on the lake…. any parade… or any fireworks. There will be more 4th of July’s…. that I can promise you!
With much love and continued prayers~

P.S. Hey, Pete~ I know you enjoy going to hockey camp with dad – but please know that we would love to have you spend a day with us this upcoming week, too!

  4. Me again – I just went back and re-read the posts from a couple days ago and I read the one from Tanya Kubista….. I just wanted to say that with people like her on your team, Pete…. wow, you are one loved young boy! I have tears in my eyes….

  5. Peter and family, how exciting that the bone marrow was clear. It is good that your treatment can move on according to schedule. Enjoy your time at home and this beautiful weather. My plan is to get to New York sometime this year. I remember how much gum I have to chew whenever I fly, it helps the ears. You will remain on the top of my prayer list until all is well. God Bless and take care, Cheryl Bailey

  8. Peter, Uncle Trent and I just got back from Sudbury Ontario and I can’t tell you how many people asked about you. We went to Brian Savage’s NHL retirement party. Your Daddy played hockey against Brian and Uncle Trent played with him at Miami of Ohio. Everyone at the party has been following your progress. They are all very proud of you. Even Claude Lemieux and Doug Gilmour asked Uncle Trent how you were doing. Their are lots of prayers being said for you and your Mom, Dad and sisters.

I love you and I’ll see you Tues. I am coming up to help Mom get ready for your next trip to NYC and I want to see your baseball game.
