Radiation Postponed

The party was great! The kids all took a whack (or 7) at a pinata and had lots of fun. Between Hansons and Eigners, there are almost 30 people now (11 young kids) so it’s pretty much contolled chaos! It’s 24 hours later and our 3 are still hanging tough – I am glad Peter hasn’t gotten a fever or been too tired today.
We have not gotten any test results yet, but did get a call that his platelets went from 46,000 on Tuesday, to 38,000 yesterday. What a bummer. They had been climbing steadily so we all thought they would be the 50,000 necessary to start radiation on Monday. I don”t know what causes them to drop like that, especially when they’ve been on the rise. Anyway, we don’t believe he’ll be going in to check labs now until Tuesday, when he goes in for the bone marrow biopsy. We do, however, plan to find out results from the ct scans and bone scan, on Monday. Will keep ya posted. Erika

  1. Good Morning Eigners…. Hello, Peter!! WOW…. 30+ people at your birthday party! You have quite the fan club, my friend! I bet you and Ellie got oodles of presents! You deserve every last one of them!! 🙂 Kind of a bummer that your counts dropped and caused radiation to be postponed…. 🙁 I think we have all learned that there are set-backs and pit stops in this battle…. but you always seem to pull through. I think this is just a case of “everything happens for a reason!” 🙂
We will keep praying that those counts start to climb higher again. In the meantime – enjoy being FIVE!
We love you so much and think of you every single day!

The blessing of a large and supportive family and many friends must be encouraging to his parents and the medical staff who are trying so hard to facilitate progress.

  5. Good Morning Peter,
It’s a bummer that there is a slight delay in the process, but I believe that things will be better in a day or two. You had a pretty busy weekend, lots of activity from the sounds of it. Your birthday party must have been a blast!! It was so nice to talk to you at the hockey arena this weekend with your dad and Ellie. I bet you are having a lot of fun playing with all your new toys.
Good luck on Tuesday with the biopsy, we’ll continue the prayers and hope that the radiation will start this week too!! (also praying for good test results!!)
